My Greatest Adventure: Squame

I'll try to keep it brief, also because what I want to share is the beginning of the adventure, hoping it can continue as long as possible and see you no longer just as readers but also as actors in this story.

I'm a huge sports fan. I believe sport is often a metaphor for life. We set goals that we can only achieve through dedication and commitment, without any shortcuts.

I also believe that through sports we can seek raw and intimate contact with the nature that surrounds us, appreciating all its facets and rediscovering our wildest instincts.

I enjoy experimenting with different disciplines, especially when immersed in the natural environment, so as to discover new places to explore.

Besides my passion for sports, I've always had a soft spot for the world of clothing. Although my studies tended toward a more square, numbers-focused sector, my curiosity increasingly drew me to this more abstract and creative branch.

I began my journey in a fashion clothing boutique, after which my passion for sports, especially cycling, led me towards a more technical direction.

I had the opportunity to learn how garments are created by participating in the manufacturing process, realizing how fantastic it is to see what initially is just an idea, a pencil sketch on a sheet of paper, become reality and end up worn by my fellow athletes.

I believe this creative process is extraordinary, how an abstract idea becomes something tangible, through the work and expertise of figures who are unfortunately often forgotten.

We live in a world where everything moves fast, where seasonality no longer exists, where we want everything immediately and already think about what we will desire once we have obtained what we just asked for.

The world of clothing, in particular, perfectly reflects our frenetic routine: overabundance of supply, delivery in less than a day, sales and offers on every item at any time of year. Why buy at full price? Why buy something original when we're offered dozens of copies at a lower price?

I think I have heard and even used every kind of excuse to justify this behavior.

A phrase I heard on a podcast recently got me thinking, about the intrinsic value of fifty-year-old tailored garments, which we still find in vintage markets or jealously guard in our closets, perhaps after inheriting them from our parents or grandparents.

These products, kindly defined as garments, will never die because they represent an unmistakable style, an icon of their time but above all the ingenuity of those who created them, starting from an idea in their head.

Without presuming to compare myself to historic designers, I wondered why the value of a product is so neglected that quantity is preferred over quality, and people insist on buying cheap, because it's nice to talk about Made in Italy, but less pleasant to pay the price.

However, by continuing to fuel the flywheel of uncontrolled consumerism, we will pay an even greater price: the environmental one, caused by overproduction and the resulting pollution. We will pay the price of the loss of values ​​and dignity of those who work in this world made of artisans, tailors, and artists.

We are fortunate to live in the cradle of the textile industry, possessing the excellence of our materials and the historicity that the whole world envies us.

Squame was born from this reflection. With humility and by rolling up our sleeves, we want to bring attention back to the value of the product, to respect for nature and the planet that hosts us.

We have chosen to use recycled or otherwise Italian-made materials, working exclusively with local artisan workshops who share our commitment to providing the highest quality to consumers.

Every Squame piece is born from an idea of ​​ours, or from the ideas of friends or acquaintances who have shared their experiences with us. Each product you now find in the catalog is a puzzle of ideas and suggestions gathered by consulting with those close to me who share my passion for sport and nature.

When I stop to look at Squame products, I remember every suggestion, every criticism, and contribution from those who have been close to me during this first part of the journey. This is why Squame products are rich in value and were created to last, because they capture the soul of us, enthusiasts.

I've decided to make Squame my life, this is definitely my greatest adventure, a bet on myself, but above all a bet on you, certain that you will appreciate our work and our passion for this wonderful planet.

Looking back, I see little progress made, but this doesn't discourage me because I think of how much more there is to go, how many ideas, how many products were born from a journey together, from the advice of a trusted friend.

This is precisely why I decided to start by telling you about myself, so that it can be the starting point for expanding this community and growing together, influenced by everyone's experiences.
