What does sustainability mean?
We hear about it all the time, but what does sustainability mean ?
In environmental and economic sciences, it is a condition for development that ensures the satisfaction of the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
This issue has recently also overwhelmed the fashion sector, guilty of a large portion of pollution due to the fast fashion model , characterised by overproduction and incitement to compulsive purchasing.
All manufacturers now inform consumers about the use of recycled and sustainable raw materials, however this is not enough and often turns out to be yet another greenwashing tactic .
This term refers to a superficial environmentalism, aimed at distracting consumers from the real negative effects of this business model.
It is not by (partially) replacing the resources used for production that we become sustainable but by making production and our customers responsible, even recycled products pollute!
By hiding under the blanket of recycled resources, we continue to encourage compulsive purchasing without any real need, continuing to produce tons of waste and diminishing the value of products due to the overabundance of supply.
Squame has chosen first of all to produce with an artisanal supply chain , as well as using resources of controlled origin, regenerated when possible.
